This year the American Association of Law Libraries Annual Meeting will be held July 13th to 16 at the Washington Convention Center in Washington DC. AALL 2019 will celebrate the innovators within the legal information profession and highlight the skills, talents, and attributes that benefit  the institutions  they serve.

The Educational sessions cover a wide range of practical and substantive issues including hot topics such as GDPR, Privacy, analytics and the #metoo movement.

Attendees can also:

  • Network with colleagues from around the country and around the world.
  • Meet  with vendors and see the latest features and products including the latest from legal tech start-ups.
  • Immerse themselves in the national  museums, libraries and archival treasures of the Nation’s Capital.

Keynote: A Law Library Saved My Life

Shon Hopwood will deliver the keynote: “A Law Library Saved my Life.” This year’s keynote will be sponsored by LexisNexis. and will be held on Sunday July 14th 0-1015 A.M. Shon Hopwood is an Associate Professor of Law at Georgetown University Law Center. His unusual legal journey began not at law school, but federal prison, where he learned to write briefs for other prisoners. Two petitions for certiorari he prepared were later granted review by the United States Supreme Court, and he won cases for other prisoners in federal courts across the country. His story has been featured in the New York TimesWashington PostThe New Yorker, and on NPR and 60 Minutes.
