ALM, the “grand-daddy” of legal reporting and intelligence has launched state court coverage in Law.com Radar. Law.com Radar delivers a clean customizable stream of breaking legal news and competitive insights.

Today’s release includes more than 100 courts in California, New York, New Jersey, Florida, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Texas and Maryland. Additional state courts will be introduced over the coming weeks and months, providing Law.com Radar users with new litigation alerts from key jurisdictions across the U.S. Most important of all the news comes with a link tot he full complaint which can be retrieved in” “one click.”

The Radar product provides litigation surveillance in commercially important state courts which are more challenging to monitor than federal courts, since there is no single reporting system for state courts. Radar covers courts that require the manual collection of documents. The Radar alerts include AI generated summaries which speed the accuracy and timeliness of delivery.

The  latest release supplements Law.com Radar’s existing coverage of federal district courts and Delaware’s Court of Chancery as well as its publication of corporate deal updates. Last July ALM released Law.com Rader Trend Detection  capabilities.

New Alerting Features include daily case reports by jurisdiction. These new litigation  alerts that can be configured around courts, practice areas, topics, industry segments, law firms, parties or free text searches. And contain a link to the full complaint!

I was recently provided with an internal Bloomberg communication from Cesca Antonelli, Editor-in-Chief at Bloomberg Industry Group*. Antonelli  scoped out Bloomberg’s plans: “ … as we move into 2023, we will substantially grow the size of our newsroom. You read that right. At a time when it seems like our entire industry is shrinking and doing more with less, Bloomberg Industry Group is making a big bet on robust journalism.” Leadership is committed to marrying the best content to the best AI.

Legal News Focus Bloomberg Law is going to focus on “the part of our market that is growing the most: news for Big Law litigators. Our goal is to become No. 1 in litigation news, and that’s where most of these new jobs will be.”  Although no specific hiring target is mentioned, the new positions will include team leaders, deputies, content editors and reporters. The positions will be filled with both internal candidates and external recruits.

The strategy will be to “stand up a team of writers inside courthouses in key locations. There will be “a new SWAT team of general assignment reporters to write stories about the decisions our legal intelligence teams don’t currently have time to get done. New

Bill Carter, ALM Global CEO

Bill Carter had a lot to celebrate during Legalweek 2022. After a two year pandemic hiatus Legalweek, the ALM sponsored international legal technology conference went live in New York. On March 9th Carter took to the stage to announce the rebrand on ALM Media to ALM Global LLC. The name change to ALM Global highlights the company’s  evolution from a US focused media company to a global platform covering international legal news and business.

On March 5th  ALM launched a free  special report hub outside the normal “pay wall.” War in Ukraine: Tracking the Conflict’s Reverberations Across the Legal Industry,  houses all of their continuing coverage related to the war in Ukraine and its implications for the legal industry.

I spoke with Carter last week about new developments at ALM Global and the state of the legal news market. Carter is bullish on ALM’s global advantage, pointing to  the continuing growth of The ALM Global suite of products,  the use of AI in delivering insights and the expansion of their readership.

News Radar and Trend Detection. At the last live Legalweek event in 2020, ALM launched Legal Radar, an innovative news service offering real time updates on new federal litigation and news in a personalized interface. The tool was expanded to include corporate
